A double CD compilation that, as the name suggests, serves to showcase artists from last years Homebake Festival, but given the scope of genres and artists that performed and the fact that they’re all Australian, this is a mammoth representation of contemporary Oz Music.

They’re all here, From current rock; The Vines, Powderfinger, Jet, Grinspoon, Eskimo Joe, Something For Kate, Spiderbait, Regurgitator, Silverchair, Rocket Science, Sleepy Jackson, Sidewinder and Tumbleweed through to the old classics; You Am I, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Hoodoo Gurus, The Church. Hip Hop; Scribe (Australian?), 1200 Techniques, Hilltop Hoods, Resin Dogs and Gerling through the songwriter set; Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko, Alex Lloyd, John Butler and Pete Murray onto electronica; Katalyst, Sonic Animation.

Starting to get the picture? And that’s by no means where it ends, with fifty odd tracks of Australiana. The track selection itself is an interesting one, some tracks are new releases (Gurges ‘Bong In My Eye, Eskimo Joe’s ‘From the Sea’) some are setlist staples (You Am I’s ’Berlin Chair’, The Living End’s ‘Prisoner Of Society).

All in all, well worth the bucks.
