A Bit (of) Rich The funniest man alive is touring the country over the next few weeks. Rich Hall, winner of the prestigious Perrier Award at the renowned Edinburgh Festival, will be bringing his trademark dry humour and caustic wit to venues in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney; and one show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Hall, whose life's work is to prove that Americans aren't totally devoid of irony, won't be alone. He's bringing his jailbird uncle and alter ego Otis Lee Crenshaw with him; as well as his band, The Black Liars. Some Blurb staffers caught Rich and dear old Uncle Otis at last year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival and can assure you that the guy's enormous reputation is well-deserved. Otis Lee Crenshaw is a marvellous creation; a hard-livin', hard-drinkin', fast-talkin', straight-shootin' son-of-a-bitch straight out of a Southern penitentiary. He has a fondness for hard liquor and sad songs, but woe betide anyone who crosses him. >>>

It's the brilliance of Hall's mind that sets him a cut above most comedians. In the confines of a scripted performance and keeping in one character, he's still able to improvise at lightning speed. Like a musician, the riffs run out of him, creating a show that's unlike any stand-up you've ever seen before. Having played the Adelaide Fringe, Rich Hall will be playing dates in Brisbane (March 21 - 24 at the Brisbane Powerhouse) and Sydney (April 9 -21 at The Studio, Sydney Opera House). He's also doing the 13th Annual Great Debate at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival on April 7. Whatever you do, don't miss this chance to see arguably the greatest comedian working today.
