Bells reach for the sky on Disconnect...Currently you would be hard-pressed to find a more smooth atmospheric singing duo then twin sisters Claudia and Alejandra Deheza. Flanked by ex-Secret Machines' Benjamin Curtis, the trio of School Of Seven Bells have launched their sophomore album Disconnect from Desire and it finds the band aiming for the sky with big anthems, sprawling walls of sound and of course the floating Dehazas' vocals. On occasion, the record plays it too safe and instead of being great, some tracks only meet half of their potential because the band does not push them or deconstruct them to the limit. This quality is what made Alpinisms [2008] so engaging. But even with that, Disconnect from Desire still holds up to repeat plays and probably has a better chance of catching on in the mainstream because you just can't turn away from the dual sirens here as School Of Seven Bells can always make your speakers sound superb.
