Shiny new Sundays
For lead singer Adam Lazzara he not only split from longtime TBS guitarist Fred Mascherino, which is covered in "Summer Man" but also had his engagement end with Eisley guitarist Chauntelle DuPree that he gets off his chest with closing track "Everything Must Go". This more personal connection with the tracks and now a sole direction from Lazzara, gives Taking Back Sunday a new breath of air for their fourth album correctly titled New Again. More so than ever, Taking Back Sunday have a pop sense to them that contain bigger hooks and radio friendly tracks, which swing for the arena fences. For most of the record this new focus works because Taking Back Sunday still retain an underlining edge to them that comes through with the sharp and sometimes heavy instrument play. My guess is that fans from the beginning will complain that New Again is not "emo" enough but overall the record should satisfy listeners and most likely will grab an entire new legion of followers!
