One slippery hombre

I think it is fair to say that to be an Eels fan is to say that you enjoy a multitude of styles and moods in your music. Mark Oliver Everett aka E, makes records based on his feelings, personal surroundings and current tastes. In his words, Hombre Lobo is all about capturing an "animal instinct", which sets the stage for tracks that are fuzzed out and amped up to the max, while E lets loose with some matching vocal venom.

The pounding "Tremendous Dynamite" is one of the most explosive songs the band has released, while the spooky howl outs in "Fresh Blood" will make you crazy happy. What these rawer tracks hide during your first spin of Hombre Lobo is that sparsed in between is the quiet, pleasant and gentle Eels tracks that you have known for a long time making this record more familiar then first imagined.

Eels fans will truly enjoy the freedom found in the garage rock pieces but will also recognize that lyrically E can still capture what true loneliness and desire feels like giving Hombre Lobo a true soul to absorb!
