Temperamental Moon No capitals - just gilli moon. Ring a bell? No? Well, get ready to hear a whole lot more about this Italian born, Australian raised, US based singer and songwriter. Oh, and did I mention painter, writer and filmmaker? By any standards, moon is a prolific artist. Since her recording debut on Shamballa's 1996 self-titled CD to her current release Temperamental Angel (September 2001 release in Australia), she's appeared on no less than five albums, not including song samplers. Moon left Australia in 1997, settling in Los Angeles.
That year saw her appear on Nubar-Brooks CD titled Lust. She performed the song "You Belong to Me". In 1998, she branched out to produce her first solo album, Girl in the Moon. Her Aussie background was evident on the album, which included tracks like "Didgeridoo Dreaming". It generated something of a following for her music in the US, as did an appearance on MTV. >>>

She has been garnering rave reviews there for her release. The Chicago Star's music writer said that Temperamental Angel "speaks to the bare emotions of love, hate, empowering sensuality and hand-tying vulnerability in all of us". Moon's music has a pop sensibility overlaying a folksy base; and infused with powerful, heartfelt lyrics. For those familiar with the music of Beth Orton, gilli moon's music is in a similar vein but without Orton's trip-hop influences. Now Australian audiences can experience gilli moon both on disc and live. She's touring the country from September 25 though October 3 (dates at left). If you're very lucky, she may even work a little glass painting into the performance. As part of the tour, she'll also be speaking at the SongsAlive! Songwriters Workshop in Sydney on October 3.
